Prince George Community Foundation needs your help giving away $18,000

You can vote for your favourite local charity to receive a one-time grant

Giving Tuesday is coming up – the global day of giving where everyone is encouraged to do good things to support each other – and the Prince George Community Foundation is giving out $18,000.

Specifically, the foundation is giving out $18,000 in one-time grants to support charities in Prince George.  The foundation has put the names of all local registered charities into a basket and selected three finalists in six categories of giving: Arts and Culture, Education, Environment, Social Services, Health and Sports & Recreation.

The public is invited to vote for a finalist in each category and each winner receive $3,000 for a total of $18,000. Voting is open from Nov. 14 to Nov. 23, 2022.

The Finalists in each category are: 

Arts and Culture: 

  • Two Rivers Gallery
  • Coldsnap (PG Folkest Society) 
  • Prince George Cantata Singers

Education: 

  • Central BC Railway & Forestry Museum 
  • Junior Achievement BC 
  • Friends of the Prince George Public Library 

Sports and Recreation: 

  • Caledonia Adaptive Snowsports Society 
  • Jumpstart 
  • Northbreast Passage Dragon Boat Society 

Health: 

  • Canadian Mental Health Association of Northern BC 
  • Prince George Brain Injured Group 
  • Spinal Cord Injury BC 

Environment: 

  • David Douglas Botanical Garden 
  • PG REAPS
  • Ducks Unlimited 

Social Services: 

  • Carrier Sekani Family Services
  • Central Interior Native Health 
  • Crisis Prevention & Information Centre for Northern BC 

You can cast your vote online through the PGCF website.  Winners will be announced on Nov. 29.
