A Prince George establishment is stepping up to help a charity in need.

Sonar Comedy & NightClub is hosting a "Save the Prince George Humane Society Comedy Fundraiser" on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. with all proceeds going to the society.

The Prince George Humane Society announced on Monday (Aug. 26) they are in dire need of funding or else they will have to shut the doors to the society within the next two months.

The society says it costs roughly $300,000 a year to run the Prince George Humane Society, and that can vary depending on the number of animals the shelter takes in and what medical needs those animals have.

The current goal is $30,000, which will allow it to keep its doors open beyond the two-month mark.

Comedy will be performed by the "Magnificent Five" which includes Jon White, Cody Malbeuf, Dom Oliveira, Brad Webb, and Darren Gess.

"We decided to step up because we want to help the community in any way possible," Manager of Sonar Comedy and NightClub and comedian Dom Oliveria tells PrinceGeorgeMatters.

He saw the news and within 24 hours, they had a show set up.

"The PG Humane Society has been around for years helping animals and they need help now so why not step up and help?" he adds.

Tickets for the evening are $20 with the establishment also asking fans to bring food as well as blankets for the animals at the Humane Society.
