A special section in the newspaper honouring Prince George Olympic medalist Meryeta O'Dine has earned the Citizen a top-place finish of its own.
O’Dine won two bronze medals in snowboard cross at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. A special section honouring her achievement, published in the Citizen on Feb. 24, 2022, took first place in the B.C. and Yukon Community Newspaper Association’s 2023 Ma Murray Awards, in the Special Section category.
The Citizen also took third place in the 2023 Ma Murray Awards for Newspaper Excellence in Category E (circulation 11,001-21,000), behind fellow Glacier Media publications the North Shore News and Delta Optimist.
