Prince George celebrates annual Pride Picnic at Rainbow Park

The third annual event saw the park filled with rainbows, food and tunes

Rainbow Park once again lived up to its name as the annual Pride Picnic took place Sunday.

The event, hosted by the Northern BC Queer Connection Society, ran from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and saw the park full of people enjoying the information booths, playground, games, crafts, music and food trucks.

A section of Rainbow Drive directly in front of the park was even blocked off to give more room for the food trucks and picnic participants.

This was the third annual Pride Picnic as the event returned in 2022, after being on hiatus since 2019.

“Every year, Northern BC Queer Connection actively fundraises to host a free, family-friendly event that brings together the community in celebration of Pride,” the society’s Facebook page stated.

The UHNBC Traditional drummers began the performances with a drum circle. Performances also included Amanda Wood an Anishinaabe-Ojibwe singer/songwriter, local 18-year-old musician Grace Hoksbergen, and four piece alternative-indie band Examine the Bore.

The evening ended with a performance by local alternative rock band July Crowd.
