Prince George-bound flight forced to turn around due to mechanical issues

A flight destined to land in Prince George this morning (Jan. 3) experienced issues minutes into take-off.

Central Mountain Air 730 was scheduled to arrive at YXS at 11:30 a.m. from Kelowna International Airport (YLW), but a mechanical concern forced the plane to turn around as a safety precaution.

Pilots safely landed the aircraft at YLW at 10:51 a.m., 11 minutes after departure.

According to the Kelowna Airport, emergency response teams were dispatched and stood by while the plane was tended to.

Passengers from Flight 730 are now scheduled to fly to Prince George at 1:30 p.m. today and land at 2:50 p.m.

There are two other flights delayed to land in Prince George this afternoon.

Air Canada 8205 from Vancouver is now expected to land shortly at 1 p.m., 25 minutes later than originally scheduled.

WestJet 3037 from Calgary will be 20 minutes late, scheduled to land at 2:36 p.m.
