Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement, warning area residents of significant rainfall today (Aug. 23).
Thirty to 40 mm of rain is expected with potential for localized amounts near 50 mm, which could cause washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts, as well as localized flooding. There is also a risk of thunderstorms and lightning.
The affected area starts just south of Prince George, in Red Rock and Hixon, extending through the Cariboo to Quesnel and Williams Lake.
Rain is expected to ease Wednesday night.
