The community of Prince George once again showed their generosity last night (April 29) and Prince George Animal Rescue has a massive reason to smile.
The initiative is called 100 Heroes Prince George.
Here's how it works:
- Each hero chips in $100
- A list of nominated Prince George charities are put into a hat and three are pulled out
- The three nominated charities each tell a five-minute story
- Heroes vote anonymously for which one should receive the money
- The total amount goes to the winning charity
Last night, there were 140 heroes, which meant a $14,000 donation would be handed to a local charity.
The Prince George Animal Rescue helps to rehabilitate and relocate abused and unwanted animals into loving, approved homes, provide a standard level of care for animals in their facility, and educating the public.
Owner Nicola Redpath says on their website since 2013, they have rescued, rehabilitated, and re-homed over 250 dogs and over 500 cats.
In a video posted by David Mothus, you can see the emotion on Redpath's face as she accepted the cheque.
