A power outage has curtailed service at city hall.
"We're pretty sure it's a Hydro issue but we've turned off the generator at city hall and we're running tests so it's going to take a number of hours so all non-essential staff city have been sent home for the day," city spokesperson Mike Kellett said Friday morning.
The exception is the front counter on the main floor which remains on a generator.
"But all other floors and services at city hall are closed for the day."
BC Hydro spokesman Dave Mosure said a voltage regulator in the Patricia Boulevard substation was providing "over-voltage" to customers in the downtown, including city hall. The trouble began shortly after midnight and the repairs were completed by 9 a.m., he said.
In all, 359 customers were affected.
