A mural at a Prince George pub, that saw residents flock to take photos at, has been defaced by graffiti roughly a month after it was unveiled to the public.

The BX Pub had wings created by Sonny Gomez, a local artist, painted blue and white and a space in the middle for public photo-ops.

It became an instant hit in Prince George and some even out of town with pictures upon pictures appearing on social media.

But yesterday (Nov. 5), the pub announced on Facebook the mural had been vandalized and suggested people to not come down for photos anymore.

"We have had so many people come and take pictures....... even folks from out of town. We are speechless......this is all we can say right now," the post read.

Today (Nov. 6), the pub had a different tone, saying on Facebook that whoever thought to deface the mural, has failed.

"Someone thought they could destroy this beautiful piece of art our community loved!

"Well, guess what....... you failed! The love, strength and power of our community is a force to be reckoned with.

"You did not take anything away! You united a community that refuses to let anyone take this away from them!"

The restaurant also adds its working on taking in public ideas it's received since the vandalism and hopes to put up a new mural that's 'stronger, better and vandal-proof.'

The BX Pub made a call in August for an artist to create the 'angel wings' concept in hopes of putting up a piece that reflected 'unique attributes, history and diversity' of Prince George.
