Police seek witnesses to fatal crash

Police are asking anyone who may have seen a March 15 collision that claimed the the life of a young Prince George woman to step forward.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen a March 15 collision that claimed the the life of a young Prince George woman to step forward.

Leanne Marie Burchill, 20, died at the scene, following what police and the coroners service have described as a head-on collision between two pickup trucks on Highway 97 near Ten Mile Lake, north of Quesnel at about 9:15 a.m.

Police have also said southbound traffic had come to a stop and formed a lineup while waiting for a tow truck at the scene on an unrelated incident to complete its work.

But the driver of one of the pickups decided to pull into the northbound lane to go around the lineup and ended up in the path of the oncoming vehicle.

Three other people, two of them from the other pickup and the driver of the vehicle Burchill was in, were taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
