Police find a man sleeping in a stolen vehicle but he does not match the description of the actual thief.

Witnesses said a suspicious male seen hanging around the 2300 block of Northwood Pulpmill Road on the morning of Sept. 23 was wearing blue jeans, a blue jacket and a black ball cap.

That’s where the stolen vehicle came from but the man found later sleeping in the driver’s seat of the same vehicle located near Marleau Road and North Street did not meet that description.

Although it only took six hours between receiving the report of the vehicle being stolen and its return, local RCMP are still on the hunt.

“Police are still looking to identify the suspect from the original vehicle theft that occurred just after 6 a.m. on September 23,” Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, media relations officer for the Prince George RCMP, said. “If anyone has information about this event, they can speak with an investigator by calling 250-561-3300.”

If anyone has any information about this or any other criminal offence, please contact the Prince George RCMP at (250)561-3300 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1(800)222-8477 or online at www.northernbccrimestoppers.ca (English only). You do not have to reveal your identity to Crime Stoppers. If you provide information that leads to an arrest or recovery of stolen property, you could be eligible for a cash reward.
