A man police describe as armed and dangerous is on the loose.

If you see Robert Lee Milligan, 31, do not approach him and call 911 immediately, Prince George RCMP warned Friday.

Milligan is wanted on suspicions of assault at a home in Lower College Heights and investigators believe he remains in possession of a firearm allegedly used in the incident.

Milligan is described as Caucasian, 180 cm (5'11") tall and weighing 91 kgs (200 lbs) and with brown eyes, a bald or closely shaven head and tear drop tattoos under each eye.

Milligan is well known to police and the courts.

In January, he was sentenced to one year in jail less time served prior to sentencing and one year probation for pointing a sawed-off rifle at a house party in the 1400 block of Jarvis Street in April 2013.

About three weeks after the incident, Milligan was at the centre of a manhunt in the Quinson neighbourhood last spring afer police received word he was in a home in the neighbourhood.

Concerned that he was armed and dangerous, police closed off access to as many as 100 homes in the area before scaling it back to about 50. After a search of more than 12 hours, Milligan was finally apprehended at a home near Dezell Drive and Patterson Street.

Milligan remained in custody following his arrest and spent three more months in jail following sentencing.

Milligan continues to face a charge of trafficking in a controlled substance from an alleged August 2012 incident, along with co-accused Jason Alexander Hall. That matter is set to go to trial in September 2015.
