Police are asking for the public's help to locate a 50-year-old woman who was kidnapped from UHNBC Sunday afternoon just before 1 p.m.
Prince George RCMP received a call that a man known to the police had forced the woman into a vehicle against her will after pushing her in a wheelchair out of the hospital on Edmonton Street. The woman was not discharged from hospital and is need of medication.
RCMP have released a surveillance image of the suspect, identified as Lash Leroux.
The 44-year-old Leroux stands five-foot-10 (178 cm), weighs 181 pounds (82 kg), has brown hair and brown eyes. He is considered violent and should not be approached.
The vehicle used in the offence was a red late '80s or early '90s Honda hatchback tagged with B.C. licence plates 425 FRH. Police have determined those plates were stolen.
Police spokesman Cpl. Craig Douglass said Leroux is known to police and has a violent past. "Obviously, we don't know what the motive is so there's concern for her safety," said Douglass. "She was making it clear she did not want to get into the vehicle. He just rolled her out of the hospital to the vehicle."
