A man well-known to police and the court has been arrested on suspicion of pointing a firearm.
Michael Campbell-Alexander, 25, was apprehended Saturday night after Prince George RCMP were called to the 1900 block of Central Street East.
Witnesses told police they saw two men in an argument and that one pointed what appeared to be a gun at the other before leaving the area on foot.
Police began patrols and located the suspect a few blocks away on 20 Avenue and Massey Drive and found a firearm in his backpack, RCMP say.
Campbell was bound by a court order to not possess a firearm, Cpl. Jennifer Cooper said.
"Thankfully, no one was injured in this incident. Police would like to thank the witnesses who called in this report, making it possible for us to locate and arrest this offender," Cooper added.
Nine charges, including pointing a firearm, have been approved against Campbell-Alexander, who remained in custody as of Wednesday.
Campbell-Alexander has a lengthy criminal record. In 2019, he was sentenced to a further three years in jail for for his role in an exchange of gunfire outside a Prince George drug house.
