Prince George RCMP ended the year on a busy note.
Police responded to 129 calls on December 31, the detachment reported Thursday, about on par with the average of 127 calls on that day since 2018.
"The icy road conditions resulted in nearly double the amount of traffic incidents we attended on New Year’s Eve in 2020," Cpl. Jennifer Cooper said.
"Overall, however, the calls to police for that night were in line with our regular service calls."
For the whole of 2021, RCMP responded to just over 51,000 calls for service, which is a seven-per-cent increase over 2020’s total.
