Police thwarted a home invasion in progress when other events timed well with RCMP in very close proximity.

Police were initially called just before 9 p.m. Thursday to the 2000 block of Tamarack Street due to a verbal dispute between upstairs tenants and downstairs tenants in the same building. As police were arriving, the dispute was taking a turn and the same home was suddenly the scene of a home invasion and assault incident.

"Numerous suspects attempted to flee the scene on foot or by vehicles but were stopped or located a short time later by [police members]," said Prince George RCMP spokeswoman Const. Julie Champagne. "A 44-year-old male from Prince George was found at the scene with head injuries."

The injured man was taken to hospital and was expected to recover from the wounds.

Two adult males were arrested at their vehicle, which police found to contained drugs and weapons. Two youth males were also arrested.

"The Prince George RCMP is still looking for one more male suspect," said Champagne. "The male is known to police and is not believe to be a threat to the public, as this was a dispute between people known to each other."

Charges are pending. If you have any information about this incident please contact the Prince George RCMP at (250)561-3300 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1(800)222-TIPS (8477), online at www.pgcrimestoppers.bc.ca, or Text-A-Tip to CRIMES using keyword "pgtips".
