Prince George Mounties have released the identity of human remains that were found outside the city earlier this month

The remains are those of 34-year-old Crystal Chambers, the BC Coroners Service confirms as they were brought in to perform an autopsy to help identify the victim.

Chambers' remains were located 40 kilometres east of Prince George on Sunday (Aug. 2).

Police are continuing to investigate what happened to her before she died.

"Our thoughts are with the family of the victim at this difficult time," an RCMP statement reads.

Anyone with more information is asked to call Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300.
