Prince George RCMP broke down the door of a home in the 1800 block of Queensway Sunday morning to break up a violent domestic dispute.

Police were called to the home at approximately 10:30 a.m. When they arrived, the suspect refused to come out of the house.

RCMP officers used hand tools to smash in the front door and arrested the suspect -a middle-aged aboriginal man.

The victim was carried out on a stretcher with obvious injuries to her face. She was transported by ambulance to the University Hospital of Northern B.C.

Police were not releasing information about the case as of press time.

"It was a domestic situation," RCMP spokesman Cpl. Craig Douglass said. "It's still early stages in the investigation. [But] likely charges will be laid."
