Quebec provincial police believe they've found the body of Martin Carpentier.
In a Tweet, Quebec provincial police said following information from a citizen, the body of a man was found in the the Saint-Apollinaire sector at around 7 p.m. today (July 20).
"Everything suggests that it would be Martin Carpentier. According to initial findings, he took his own life."
Carpentier was wanted as the suspect in the deaths of his two daughters Norah and Romy Carpentier, aged 11 and 6,.
Investigators have said the girls and their father were believed to have been in a serious car crash on Highway 20 in the Quebec City suburb of St-Apollinaire July 8, but there was nobody inside the vehicle when they arrived on scene.
An Amber Alert was triggered the day after the crash, with Carpentier accused of abducting the sisters, but the alert was lifted after the bodies of the girls were found July 11 in a wooded area in St-Apollinaire, Que.
The two girls were laid to rest today in Lévis, Quebec.
