Police have arrested two youths in connection with another online threat directed towards College Heights Secondary School.
Prince George RCMP received reports of the threat at around 5 p.m. on Sunday evening, and were able to identify the young male believed to be responsible. Another youth was later arrested in connection with the same threat. Search warrants have been issued at the homes of both youth, and both have been held in custody.
According to Craig Douglass, media liaison officer for the Prince George RCMP, the police have taken both threats seriously. However, Douglass also said these threats posed no credible danger to students or staff at College Heights Secondary. The school opened as normal Monday morning, although police have maintained a presence at the school.
The threatening posts were first reported to authorities by College Heights parents and students. The arrests follow two other separate incidents of social media threats directed at DP Todd Secondary in April and late March. The threats were posted on Instagram. Police have stated that these incidents also posed no credible danger to students or staff of this school.
"We would like to remind all parents to play a role in their child's social media activity and to report suspicious activity. Any threats made must be taken seriously," said a statement issued by police.
Police have urged anyone with information about these incidents to call the RCMP at (250) 561-3300 or to anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
