Prince George RCMP have stepped up enforcement downtown in answer to the annual surge in trouble that comes with the onset of spring.
"We're allocating extra resources down there, especially on weekends and evenings, where we're finding more people on the street abusing drugs, including alcohol," Cpl. Craig Douglass.
Police are taking a "zero-tolerance attitude" towards such activity.
"We want to send that message that this is not acceptable behaviour," Douglass said.
What's more, Citizens on Patrol volunteers are helping police by providing extra sets of eyes and ears.
Those interested in joining Citizens on Patrol can call the Prince George RCMP's community policing office at 250-561-3366. More information can be found at www.communitypolicing.princegeorge.ca.
