What are your plans on BC Family Day weekend? Looking for things to do?
From Friday to Monday, you’ll have a variety of indoor and outdoor activities at civic facilities and parks to choose from:
1. Skate outdoors or indoors on Friday evening, Saturday or Sunday afternoon, and holiday Monday afternoon.
Public skating runs each weekend on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. If you have Monday off work, skating will also occur at the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

You can also stop by for a skate at the Prince George Outdoor Ice Oval (weather dependent).

Don’t have skates? Don't worry! Rentals are available during public skating times at City arenas and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Oval (pending volunteer availability).
2. Join other winter cyclists at Wood Innovation Square to go for a morning ride or chat over free coffee
The Prince George Cycling Club invites cyclists to Winter Bike Day from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. on Friday at Wood Innovation Square, the City’s newest downtown park located at 1142 5th Avenue (next to the Wood Innovation and Design Centre).
Head for a bike ride before or after the event and join other cyclists to chat and drink free coffee.
3. Get free tickets to the Cougars game and participate in free activities before and after the game.
CN Rail is sponsoring every seat at the Prince George Cougars WHL home game on BC Family Day (Monday), starting at 2 p.m. at CN Centre.

Take part in free activities before and after the game. Starting at 11:30 a.m., ride “Little Obie” – CN’s mini train - and make sure to bring your skates to skate with the Cougars following the game until 6 p.m. Take pictures with and get autographs from your favourite Cougars.

4. Go swimming at one of two pools.
The Four Seasons Leisure Pool and PG Aquatic Centre will be open on Saturday and Sunday. The Aquatic Centre will also be open from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Go down the waterslide, float in the lazy river, soak in the hot tub/ steam room, swim in the pool, and more. Regular admission applies. Find pool hours and features here.
Looking for free things to do? Canadian Tire is sponsoring a free swim at the Four Seasons Pool from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday..
5. Get active and participate in indoor sports and free activities at the Northern Sport Centre.
Engage Sport North, in partnership with the City, will offer free sports stations on Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Charles Jago Northern Sport Centre.
Come play soccer, wheelchair basketball, pickleball, and other free activities. All age groups are welcome.
The Province of British Columbia has provided the City of Prince George a grant in support of our free, community Family Day event. This event has been made possible [in part] by the Government of Canada.
6. Bring the kids to a family-oriented concert at the PG Playhouse.
The Prince George Symphony Orchestra is hosting an educational KinderConcert "Land, Sea, and Air" aimed at children ages 3 to 10 years on the afternoon of Saturday at the PG Playhouse. Children ages 2 years and under are free. The show starts at 2 p.m.

7. Try a new trail The City offers over 100+ kilometres of trails right in our community. Browse City trails by trail length and trail type at princegeorge.ca/trails.
If you’re bringing your four-legged best friend, you can find pet-friendly on-leash trails and off-leash pet areas here. Make sure to bring bags to store treats and to properly dispose of pet waste.
