It's a sad day for a local cafe.
Play Grounds Cafe has announced in a Facebook post the closure of their Quinn Street location because the building they are located in has been sold.
The company says they have been given notice and their doors will close on Apr. 1, 2019.
"We know there will be questions, concerns and much disappointment. We have only had a few weeks to prepare our hearts and minds with how to share this situation with our ever-supportive community," the post reads. "This is a change of direction for a dream and passion but not an end."
Regular hours will be the same until Mar. 30, 2019 and their Bistro and Kitchen (wholesale foods and catering) will still operate without interruption.
They are in the process of reconciliation options for those with annual memberships, they added.
The company Facebook page will also continue to be updated with information and notices.
Play Grounds asks that you do not call with membership questions or come in without scheduled meetings to discuss the closure, as it "is a very difficult and emotional time" for the company while also still running operations for the time being.
On Feb. 7, there will be a Community Celebration Event at 6 p.m. which the company says will be "the time and place" for a round table discussion. More event details will follow per the Facebook post.
"We ask for and appreciate your respect to our privacy with regards to some details and what may lay ahead," the post reads. "Thank you for your continued patronage and do come see Play Grounds Bistro in the Prestige Hotel Lobby."
