Pilots of an Air Canada Jazz Dash 8-300 from Vancouver were able to land the craft land safely Saturday afternoon despite an outbreak of smoke in the cockpit, Prince George Airport Authority spokesperson Todd Doherty reported.

Pilots of the flight, which carried 51 passengers, called in the problem to the airport at 1:25 p.m. and an emergency crew of firefighters and ambulance personnel was on hand when the plane landed 15 minutes later.

No one was hurt and the plane remained on schedule for a return flight 45 minutes later, according to flight status information on the Air Canada website.

The source of the smoke is believed to be an overheated air conditioning unit, Doherty said.
