Downtown Prince George and Love Downtown PG are encouraging resident to don some plaid and come downtown for Plaid Friday.
Forty stores and restaurants downtown are participating in the event with extended shopping hours, strolling carolers, sales, and free Love Downtown PG swag for people spending $50 or more at downtown businesses, Downtown Prince George executive director Colleen Van Mook said.
"Most of the (participating businesses) are putting on some sort of special deal," Van Mook said. "Really it's an opportunity to check out some of our local retailers and restaurants."
Friday is also the launch of the Downtown Prince George Holiday Shopping Passport program. Between Friday and Jan. 7, can collect passport stamps from participating local businesses downtown.
Once a passport has at least five stamps, it can be entered at Northern Hardware for a chance to win a pair of downtown-themed prizes. In addition, the first 25 completed passports returned to Northern Hardware will receive a free snow shovel.
Passports and free Love Downtown PG swag can be picked up on Friday at The Hubspace (1299 Third Ave.) from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday.
