An Enbridge spokeswoman outlined Wednesday the economic benefits Central B.C. would specifically see if the company's $5.5-billion Northern Gateway Pipeline is given the green light by federal authorities and constructed.
Speaking at a chamber of commerce luncheon, Michele Perret, Enbridge's senior community relations manager for the project, said 440 kilometres of the pipeline including pump stations at Bear Lake, Fort St. James, Burns Lake and Houston, would be constructed in this region.
It would cost $2.2 billion to build that stretch with $400 million going towards goods and services to support the project transportation services. The work would generate 5,000 person years of work, direct and indirect Perret added.
