A Prince George student has won a library of her favourite books.

Ashleigh Johnston, a Grade 3 student at Pinewood elementary school, sketched her way to the rare prize. Only 10 youngsters in Canada got the basket of "Geronimo Stilton" books courtesy of the Scholastic Book Club, and she was one of them. Only two others from B.C., one in Vancouver and one in Revelstoke, won as well.

Scholastic ran the "Draw Geronimo Stilton" contest across the nation throughout October, inviting young readers to scribble out a likeness of the popular children's character: a journalist mouse who solves mysteries.

There are more than 40 books in the "Geronimo Stilton" series. Johnston was the recipient of 25 volumes, presented at a school assembly.
