The tiny community of Granisle, west of Prince George, will be home to a dozen new campsites and a gazebo built from pine beetle-killed wood as part of upgrades to Lakeview Park.

The province contributed $400,000 from its Towns for Tomorrow fund.

The project, built on reclaimed industrial land is valued at $550,000 in total. It will also see the removal of an old access road and the installation of solar-powered lighting. The construction work will also support about six jobs in the region.

The upgrades will provide the 500 residents of Granisle and visitors with community gathering space.

"Investing in parks improves the quality of life for people living in Granisle, and makes our region a more attractive place to visit," said Nechako Lakes Liberal MLA John Rustad.
