Fort St. James National Historic Site will host an old-fashioned community picnic on Sunday, Sept. 26, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and admission will be free.

The offer is made possible by the contributions of the District of Fort St. James council, who will cover the cost of admissions for the visiting public.

Activities will include another installment of chicken races, first tried during Harvest Day in August.

Visitors will also be treated to complimentary beef dips courtesy of the College of New Caledonia professional cook training students.

"It's our way of saying thank you to all our incredible friends and supporters, each and every year" said site manager Bob Grill.
