Thieves have targeted a local elementary school and have taken a valuable learning tool.
School District 57 (SD57) says, in a release, the Canfor Elementary Skills Trailer was stolen overnight from Buckhorn Elementary School, which included $1,000 worth of supplies and equipment inside.
The trailer is used to move tools, equipment and supplies to elementary schools throughout the school district.
Elementary Skills Teacher Trevor Pearen uses it as his main hub to deliver programming to local students.
He leads students in woodworking projects as part of hands-on learning opportunities inside schools.
The trailer was supposed to be at Buckhorn from yesterday (Dec. 9) to Friday (Dec. 13) and Nusdeh Yoh Elementary School next week.
If it is not found by next week, SD57 personnel will transport tools and equipment to students via a fleet of trucks.
When taken, the trailer was mostly empty with tools and most of the equipment being in the Buckhorn gym.
The file has been opened with the Prince George RCMP.
