Prince George residents hoping to witness a popular racing competition next week, unfortunately, will not be able to see it.

The Prince George Auto Racing Association (PGARA) has cancelled the first of two Hit to Pass races because of low car registration numbers.

The event was scheduled for next Saturday (June 15) at PGARA Speedway.

In a statement, the club said its “members and Board of Directors are just as disappointed as all our loyal fans, and we hope to bring you a great show in September.”

PGARA believes the cars that were scheduled to smash-and-bash this month should be preserved and added to the lineup of the next race.

For those unfamiliar with Hit to Pass, the objective of the race is to knock out other cars while going full throttle around the track with the last car standing winning it all.

The second and final Hit to Pass of the 2019 season takes place on the Labour Day long weekend, Aug. 31 and Sept. 1, as per club tradition.

The next event on PGARA’s docket this summer is the Malicious Monster Truck tour, slated for July 6 and 7.

More information and a full schedule of other events can be found on PGARA’s website.
