The Prince George Air Improvement Roundtable (PGAIR) is hosting a series of workshops to engage the public in reducing air pollution from
transportation.
The first session will be taking place on Feb. 28 at the Prince George Civic Centre from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The first workshop will feature presentations by UNBC air quality researcher Peter Jackson, B.C. Trucking Association president Louise Yako and Prince George Airport director of operations
Guyler Green.
"The real goal here is we want to encourage members of the public to come out and learn what is going on, but also provide feedback on how we can better engage people," PGAIR executive
director Terry Robert said.
While industry plays a major role in transportation emissions, private vehicles also play a
significant role, he said.
The "real weakness we have" in PGAIR's phase three air quality management plan is how to get private residents onboard with air quality
improvements, he said.
A second session featuring presentations by CN Rail and the City of Prince George is scheduled to take place on March 27.
"We're also hoping to get some suggestions for topics for another session," Robert said.
