Quidditch: The sport of wizards has come to cole Heather Park elementary. Creatively using pool noodles, hula hoops hung from basketball hoops and other items, Mrs. Harms' PE class is a sight to be seen. Students are totally engaged, swooping this way and that, as they hunt for the Golden Snitch (a small rubber bouncy ball). It is great fun and a good way to release pent-up energies especially on snowy in-days. For a one special evening, Jordan H., who is part of HPES's hockey academy looked like the newest and youngest player on the Cougars' team. They announced his name, age and even put his picture on the big screen. Just prior to the start of the game, Jordan came out first and sat on the bench. He was then invited into the middle of the Cougars' "on ice" huddle becoming the seventh man on the ice for the team during the national anthem. To cap off an unbelievable experience, Jordan was also able to go into the dressing room and meet all the Cougar players. Our PAC had a very successful family movie night this past Friday. It was so successful that they plan a repeat performance in the future. Stay tuned for more information.

Primary classes at Quinson elementary enjoyed a visit from Huble Homestead where they learned what Christmas was like a long time ago. Students have been very busy making beautiful, decorative, Aboriginal Christmas crafts, which will be on display at the Tourism Centre. Several students also had the opportunity to work closely with Peter George and Clayton Gauthier on the cedar carving that will be displayed at the front entrance of the University Hospital of Northern B.C. in February. The students learned how to carve and were absolutely honoured to be a part of this artwork that will be on display for many years.
