The board of Prince George's school district 57 has written a letter to B.C. Premier Christy Clark requesting that the government intervene to end the teachers strike.

The board of Prince George's school district 57 has written a letter to B.C. Premier Christy Clark requesting that the government intervene to end the teachers strike.

"It is obvious that no realistic negotiation is taking place," states board chair Lyn Hall in the letter. "Now is the time for a framework of productive negotiation to be implemented. We are requesting that government become involved in the bargaining process."

The board added in a news release it looks forward to teachers and school and district administration re-establishing the "productive student-centred working relationships this district has long enjoyed."

"School District No. 57 is a learning organization that works best when all partners are engaged together in student learning," stated Hall.

The teachers' association was not immediately available for response. Please return to The Citizen online or pick up the print edition tomorrow for a full story.
