P.G. airport security officers give back to the community

Local GARDA officers host Lunch A Month at two community centres.

Local members of GARDA, the security firm which screens passengers prior to boarding aircraft at the Prince George Airport, have combined their resources to host a program aimed at giving back to those most in need. The Lunch A Month"program will be hosted alternately between the Fire Pit Cultural Drop-In Centre, 1120 3rd Ave, and St. Vincent De Paul, 1220 2nd Ave, both centres are located within the downtown core of the City of Prince George. This month the Lunch A Month will be taking place at the Fire Pit Cultural Drop-In Centre on May 19, at approximately 1:30 p.m. with members of GARDA preparing and serving the lunch to the patrons of the Fire Pit.

GARDA employee Lee Edenshaw said, "The first two Lunch A Months were held at St. Vincent De Paul and were such a big success we decided to include the Fire Pit Cultural Drop-In Centre and alternate between each centre."

Edenshaw also pointed out all the food used in providing the lunch is donated by the individual members of GARDA. Edenshaw also spoke of how this is not only benefiting the patrons but also his co-workers as they learn more about the people who call the streets of Prince George their home.
