The Prince George Farmers' Market Association will be hosting a harvest festival this fall.

Set for Oct. 29 at the Civic Centre, the evening will feature a locally-sourced buffet meal, a silent auction, door prizes and music courtesy of the Jack Van Somer Band.

"We wanted an opportunity to celebrate the harvest and enjoying the bountiful food that is available in the north," said PGFMA president Philip Myatovic.

"That's the key to the success of the market, and supporting local agriculture: a bountiful harvest. There's no better reason to celebrate, and to start working at building our market further."

Proceeds will go towards expanding the farmers' market so it can accommodate more vendors, be open more often and possibly provide the capacity for processing local food.

"The evening is going to be a lot of fun. It's a way for people to celebrate end of another outdoor season, and kickoff the beginning of our winter season inside," said Myatovic.

Tickets for the event are $65 each, or $60 each for groups of four or more, and are available every Saturday at the Prince George Farmers' Market, located downtown on 6th Avenue behind the Keg, open from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Those interested in sponsoring the event can PGFMA market manager Serena Black at [email protected], or call 250-981-7012.
