Person rescued from bridge

Emergency personnel were called early Thursday morning to prevent someone from jumping into the Nechako River from the Cameron Street Bridge. Prince George Fire Rescue was called to the scene at 4:50 a.m.

Emergency personnel were called early Thursday morning to prevent someone from jumping into the Nechako River from the Cameron Street Bridge.

Prince George Fire Rescue was called to the scene at 4:50 a.m. to find several RCMP units at the location and the person secured to the outside railing.

One member from the PGFR's high angle team went over the railing to secure and retrieve the person while three members from the PGFR swift water team where suited up and positioned river right about 50 metres downstream for containment.

The call lasted about an hour and ended with the person successfully rescued.
