One person was arrested and North District RCMP major crime investigators were called to the scene of a suspected homicide south of Francois Lake on Thursday morning.
"A person of interest has been identified and is presently in police custody," North Distrct RCMP Cpl. Madonna Saunderson said.
"Police believe that there is no risk to the community and more information is expected to be released as it becomes available."
Investigators were called out after Burns Lake RCMP received multiple calls at about 6:30 a.m. about a person believed to be deceased.
Names of the suspect and alleged victim were not released.
