On Sunday at approximately 6 p.m., the Prince George RCMP were called to a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian near the corner of Fourth Avenue and Edmonton Street.

Emergency services including the BC Ambulance Service, Prince George Fire / Rescue and the Prince George RCMP all attended the scene.

Investigators believe that an east bound 1995 Subaru Legacy driven by a 44-year-old female Prince George resident struck a 31 year old male Prince George resident that was south bound on foot crossing Fourth Avenue. The pedestrian was wearing dark clothing and according to witnesses, was not in the crosswalk at the time of the incident.

The man was transported by the BC Ambulance Service to the University Hospital of Northern BC with minor injuries and for further assessment.

The investigation is continuing.

The RCMP would like to remind both drivers and pedestrians that the days are getting shorter. Drivers, please plan to travel in darkness and leave early to avoid rushing. Pedestrians, please wear light-coloured clothing, preferably something reflective, in order to be seen. Always cross streets at intersections.
