At about 4:40 p.m. Wednesday a local RCMP citizen-on-patrol volunteer saw a vehicle collide with a pedestrian at the corner of Queensway and Connaught Drive.
The volunteer reported to police and started first aid on the 50-year-old male who was hit as he was trying to cross the street in a hurry as a small car driven by a 43-year-old female was turning onto Queensway from Patricia Boulevard.
The man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
It was dark, he was not using a crosswalk and the pedestrian was wearing dark clothing.
Investigators determined charges against the driver are not being considered at this time.
Police would like to remind pedestrians to wear reflective clothing, use marked crosswalks and always make eye contact with drivers before attempting to cross streets.
