The province has awarded a $6.78 million contract for the resurfacing of 56 kilometres of Highway 16 east of Prince George.
ARC Asphalt Recycling Inc. of Kamloops will do the work this summer on two stretches of road using the hot-in-place technique.
A 35-km section runs from close to the junction of Highways 16 and 5 all the way to Red Pass Pit Road. The second section is 21 km between Driscoll Creek and and Slim Creek. Work is expected begin in June and conclude by September.
According to the provincial government, both sections of road have been showing signs of wear.
