Passenger traffic at the Prince George Airport increased 3.8 per cent between 2009 and 2010.

A total of 390,340 people arrived or departed from the city's airport, according to the airport's 2010 annual report. Air passenger growth trailed the national growth level of 4.2 per cent and North American growth rate of 7.4 per cent.

The Prince George Airport Authority will be presenting its annual report to city council on Monday night.

Last year the airport generated an operating surplus of $90,000 -up from a $360,000 operational loss in 2009.

Non-operational revenue was also up, netting the airport authority $1.6 million in 2010 verses just over $1 million in 2009.

Despite a global air cargo increase of 8.9 per cent in 2010, the Prince George Airport has not secured a regular air cargo customer, according to annual report.

However, last year the airport signed deals with Sands Bulk Sales and Western Star Ventures which will see bulk fuel storage and cargo facilities built on site.

In addition, fueling contractor Allied Aviation added new ground equipment needed to serve large cargo aircraft.

However, progress still needs to be made on Nav Canada fees, Canadian Border Services costs and international open skies agreements, the report said.

The airport authority will be presenting their report at city council's regular meeting tonight.
