Prince George RCMP apprehended a man wanted for allegedly breaching his parole when they responded to a break and enter in progress Tuesday night in the VLA.
The warrant for the arrest of Charles Robert Stewart, 29, was issued the same day after he failed to return to his residence, Prince George RCMP Cst. Craig Douglass said.
He was found hiding in one of the rooms of a home in the 2100 block of Upland Street after the homeowner called police to report an intruder at about 8 p.m.
Although she was assaulted, the homeowner managed to escape uninjured before calling RCMP.
Stewart was handcuffed after briefly resisting and taken into custody where he continued to resist while in the cells area, police said.
As a result, provincial Crown counsel has approved charges of break and enter with intent, assault, obstructing a peace officer, being unlawfully at large and two counts of breach of conditions.
Stewart also continues to face three counts of breach of a long-term supervision from alleged incidents in December 2012.
His parole stems from a conviction in the Yukon Territory.
