A spill in a pipeline in Michigan in 2010 has been giving Enbridge grief with Northern Gateway opponents. Now the company must hand over evidence related to the incident to the National Energy Board's Joint Review Panel.
In a document published on its website on Tuesday, the panel said it needed more information on the 2010 pipeline rupture that sent more than 800,000 gallons of oil into a tributary of the Kalamazoo River.
The panel has requested a copy of the United States National Transportation Safety Board report into the spill, as well as a table showing how Enbridge is making changes to its procedures to prevent a similar incident in the future.
The panel also listed 16 other areas where it needs more information ranging from the specifics surrounding some pipeline safety measures the company has promised to details about the pipeline's ownership and financial statements.
Calgary-based Enbridge is hoping to build the $6 billion pipeline to connect Alberta's oilsands with Kitimat.
