Two paddlers had a close call Tuesday afternoon when their canoe overturned in the Nechako River.
Rescue personnel – including a helicopter and boat – were called to a report of the overturned craft at the boat launch at Cottonwood Island Park at about 2 p.m.
About 20 minutes later, the two were located. They had made their way out of the Nechako before they got to the Fraser, said RCMP, who also noted both were wearing life jackets.
