A Prince George woman's canine tale is featured in a new Chicken Soup For The Soul book called I Can't Believe My Dog Did That!, which will be available at bookstores Sept. 17.
Loretta Olund's seven-year-old Australian Kelpie, Mischa, a highly intelligent, energetic dog, troubleshooted her way to successfully bringing two toys to her owner simultaneously but was only able to fit one in her mouth.
"I can't really give the details away but it made me laugh," said Olund, who gets 10 free copies of the book and $200 for her efforts. She's donating one copy to the silent auction at the SPCA's Paws for the Cause event held this Sunday at Cottonwood Island Park, with proceeds going to the local shelter.
Olund has three dogs and four cats and attends the Paws for the Cause walk faithfully every year.
I Can't Believe My Dog Did That! offers up funny and heartwarming dog tales, some silly and some serious.
"I've always loved writing," Olund said, who just beat the deadline for submitted entries into the book by a week.
She's been published a couple of times before, once for a paragraph about Prince George parks in a Canadian magazine and the other for the SPCA publication How I Learned to Speak Dog, but she's never been paid for it before.
"I'm very happy my story made it into the book, " Olund said.
