A timid owl was found injured today (Feb. 3) on a local highway.

BC Conservation Officers (BCCOS) in Prince George were called this morning by a concerned citizen to rescue, what is described on social media as, a northern hawk owl after it was seen in the middle of a road and appeared to be injured.

According to the BCCOS, the bird was alert, but unable to fly as a result of its injury.

The owl is currently being transported to the OWL Orphaned Wildlife Rehabilitation Society in Delta via Pacific Coastal Airlines.

BCCOS says it’ll be cared for and ‘hopefully released back into the wild.’

The Service adds the concerned citizen used the Report All Poachers and Polluters (RAPP) line to report to the injured animal.

Everyone is encouraged to call 1-877-952-7277 to report any suspected violations towards B.C. fisheries, wildlife and the environment.
