The community has generously met the call for artificial trees to help bring the magic of Christmas to bare spots and dark areas found in downtown Prince George.

By Monday, Tourism Prince George had received a total of 25 artificial trees that will turn the vacant store fronts into a holiday glow.

"We are so thankful and overwhelmed by the community's response," said Anna Doran, marketing co-ordinator with Tourism Prince George. "Not only did the people bring trees, but enough lights and decorations to transform them into the spirit of the season," said Doran.

Tourism workers and Future Cents students intend to start the decorating in the area of George Street on Nov. 25.

Anyone who would like to help with decorating the trees is welcome, said Doran who can be contacted at 250-562-3700.

The project is all part the Northern Lights Festival atop Connaught Hill that is being extended into the core area, and the switch will be flicked on during a Nov. 27 downtown light up event.
