A family that went hiking but didn't show up back at home last night (Sept. 21) has been found safe.

Cpl. Craig Douglass says Prince George Mounties received a report at 11:54 p.m. on Monday that three adults and two children didn't come back from a hunting trip off of Blackwater Road, located southwest of Prince George.

Douglass says police looked for the hunters for most of the night, hoping to find the vehicle they were travelling in. They werenr't able to find the hunters.

Emergency Management BC was called in for assistance and deployed Prince George Search and Rescue early this morning.

Family members were able to reach the group by satelite phone.

The hunters had suffered vehicle troubles but were found safely without injuries.
