Giscome Elementary school will be closed today as a result of a power outage.
The school experienced several power outages over the weekend, and as of 5 p.m. on Sunday the power was still out, Prince George School District superintendent Brian Pepper said in an email.
"The Giscome principal is attempting to contact each Giscome Elementary family to inform them that students will be transported to and from Blackburn Elementary [on Monday]," Pepper said. "It is likely that learning for Giscome Elementary students will take place at Blackburn Elementary until B.C. Hydro is able to rectify the power outage situation in Giscome."
As of Sunday at 5:45 p.m., B.C. Hydro was reporting 11 power outages in the Prince George area as a result of a snow storm.
The largest outage was in an area north of Highway 16 and east of Beaver Forest Road, which effected 116 BC Hydro customers. The second largest outage effected 92 Hydro customers in the area of Summit Lake along Highway 97.
